Up to ₹94,800
combined support.

The J&K figures are higher than the general ₹78,000 central subsidy quoted for many other states.

Solar systemCentral (MNRE)J&K UT top-upTotal eligible support
1 kW₹33,000₹3,000₹36,000
2 kW₹66,000₹6,000₹72,000
3 kW₹85,800₹9,000₹94,800
4 kW₹85,800₹9,000₹94,800
5 kW₹85,800₹9,000₹94,800
Why is J&K different? MNRE's special-category benchmark gives ₹33,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹19,800 for the next 1 kW in J&K (max ₹85,800 central). The J&K UT top-up is ₹3,000 per kW capped at 3 kW (max ₹9,000). This makes up to ₹94,800 for a qualifying 3 kW or larger residential system.

Questions about the scheme

Frequently asked.

Do I get ₹94,800 subsidy on a 4 kW or 5 kW rooftop?

Potentially yes, if the residential system qualifies. The combined subsidy is capped at the 3 kW level; adding capacity beyond 3 kW does not increase this subsidy.

Is the amount ₹78,000 or ₹94,800?

₹78,000 is the general-state maximum central CFA. J&K is a special-category UT with a ₹85,800 central maximum, and the J&K UT top-up can add ₹9,000 subject to eligibility.

Can I use Non-DCR panels and still get PM Surya Ghar subsidy?

No. The scheme requires eligible domestic-content-compliant cells and modules for central subsidy.

Does solar mean exactly zero electricity bill?

Not necessarily. Fixed charges, usage patterns, lower output, tariffs and net-metering terms can affect the remaining bill.
