DCR is short for Domestic Content Requirement. It is about where the solar module and its cells are manufactured—not whether the panel is TOPCon or bifacial.
What makes a panel DCR-compliant?
For residential CFA under PM Surya Ghar, the relevant rules require solar modules manufactured domestically using domestically manufactured cells. Manufacturer declarations and relevant documentation matter.
Does Non-DCR mean poor quality?
No. Non-DCR is not an efficiency or product-quality rating. Imported-cell modules may be technically capable of generating electricity, but they do not meet the scheme's domestic-content condition for this particular subsidy.
How does this affect prices?
Different panel makes and sourcing routes have different market prices. Always compare the total installed cost, after-sales support, subsidy eligibility and actual datasheets. Do not sacrifice eligibility without understanding the consequences.
What about TOPCon and bifacial?
TOPCon describes a cell technology, while bifacial describes a module that can generate from light reaching both sides. A product may use these technologies and still require separate DCR documentation.
