Cleaning depends on dust, bird activity, rainfall and the module manufacturer’s instructions—not a universal once-a-week rule.
Start with generation data
Compare generation against comparable sunny days and investigate large unexplained drops. Dust may be a factor, but inverter faults, new shading or grid outages can create similar symptoms.
Clean without damage
Follow the module maker’s cleaning procedure. Avoid abrasive brushes, pressure washers close to connectors, cleaning at peak midday temperatures and walking on panels. Never touch live wiring.
Beyond cleaning
Review mounting corrosion, loose cables, earthing, waterproofing and inverter error logs with a qualified technician at appropriate intervals. Keep maintenance records for future claims.
